level10mindset.org is an organization dedicated to improving the mental wellness of Pendleton High School boys by providing direction and resources, with the Bible as the Source of Truth, on how to live a positive life - for yourself, your family, your school, and your community.
Level10 launched in 2023 and started with 9 boys, born out of the creation of 25 flyers, passed out at school by a very brave young man, my son, Jon McLemore. It has grown to 25 PHHS boys who are athletes, leaders and influencers in their school.
Level10 came at the gentle prodding of the Holy Spirit and a belief that there was a need in this school and among our young men for better mental health and wellness.
As a mother of a freshman-aged HS boy, I had the opportunity to be around many young men and athletes who had the opportunity to be IMPACT PLAYERS in their school and in their community. What I found was a group of young men who had many questions, didn't always know where to go to get the answers and some that were hurting or feeling "less than" mentally prepared for the challenges of young adulthood.
Level 10 was born out of s gift from my friend and co-worker, Eva Baker, of a book by Derick Grant called "Results - An Athlete's Devotional" which feaures 100 daily devotionals for athletes and focuses heavily on positive mental attitude and the importance of mindset for successful living. This book was the catalyst for the creation of Level 10.
At level10mindset.org, we offer a place for young men to come and share their experiences, their challenges, their praises, and their needs. We serve a diverse group of young men who have varying home and family situations, participate in a variety of sports and activities and are looking for some positivity and encouragement in their daily walk. We offer food, faith, fellowshp and fun.
You can reach out to Kelli Malcolm at 765-623.0251 or via email at kellisuemalcolm@gmail.com or ask any of the boys who are members about joining or visiting Level10.
The boys meet twice a month for fun, food and fellowship. We follow a consistent format and have sharing time "Peak and Pit", a 5-10 minute Mindset exercise where we strive to learn how to grow our mental toughness, attitude, positivity or emotional intelligence, a 25-30 minute faith-based lesson, food (high school boys like to eat), and generally follow that with outside play for 30 minutes.
Parents are always welcome and encouraged to attend. Throughout the year we have special meetings where we invite parents, families, and grandparents to join and at least once a year we plan a weekend retreat for the boys.
To participate in Level 10 - the boys pay NOTHING - ZIP. ZILCH. NADA. Their participation is FREE and always will be. We never want cost to be a reason that someone doesn't have access to the fellowship, faith-based study and fun that Level 10 brings.
Level 10 is a self-funded ministry by Kelli Malcolm and Darrell McLemore. We provide the food, and prizes, and meet the needs of boys where we can (birthday celebrations, etc). We welcome donations (and appreciate those who frequently ask and provide!) and are always up for contributions such as snacks, etc. because high school boys eat and drink A LOT! The cost to support Level 10 is about $300 a meeting with food, prizes and birthday celebrations. The approximate annual cost is approximately $7,000 - $10,000 or so, depending on activities and outings, not including annual retreat trips. We try to underwrite all events if possible, or as the Lord is providing.
The Level 10 boys have a dream in the next year to raise enough money to go to Mexico with Youth With A Mission/Homes of Hope and build a home for a Mexican family in need. This is a LOFTY and BIG Goal! To do so will require each boy to raise money for his flight and we need to raise as a team $25,000 to build the home. Stay tuned for more details and how you can contribute in the coming months.
The Level10 Boys are planning a summer retreat to Franklin, TN July 27-29, 2024. We are seeking donations to help offset the cost for the boys who will have a hardship in raising the funds to attend.
Great question! I'm not really sure! We will continue with Level10 as long as the boys feel that they are getting something out of it and the Holy Spirit continues to prompt us to do so.
I have considered the possibility of creating Level 10 content in such a way that it can be expanded and shared to other schools, other communities who may have a need. We will see what the Lord prompts us to do!
In the meantime, we are happy to serve the communiity of Pendleton and are geared up for the boy's BHAG (BIG HAIRY AUDACIOUS GOAL) of building a YWAM/Homes of Hope in 2024 or 2025!
When we started Level10, I wrote a mission statement of Level10 being successful if, through our group, just one boy developed a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In 2023, we welcomed 6 boys into the brotherhood of Christ followers and baptized 6 boys (four of them in a very muddy pond!).
I can without a doubt tell you that the greatest thing about Level 10 is the prodding of the Holy Spirit that I see in these boys to be all the unique and wonderfully made things that God designed each of them to be.
The second best thing about Level10 is the impact these boys have made on my life and on the lives of their friends, their families and their school. They are GAME CHANGERS, CHAIN BREAKERS and IMPACT PLAYERS.
The best way to support Level10Mindset is to PRAY. Today's teens are constantly being pulled in so many different directions and the media, society and devil are bombarding them with negative messages. Level10Mindset is designed to give these boys hope, encouragement and a safe space to share their wins, losses, fears, hopes and dreams. It is our intention to build a brotherhood of young men who feel equipped to reference the Bible as the guidebook for successful living - instead of the culture in today's world.
The second best way to support Level10 is to encourage your boys in their faith walk and take the journey with them!
